The Design, the Concept

For 20 years KM Yachtbuilders has been building 40 to 100 ft aluminium sailing yachts. And since 2020, an aluminium motor yacht of 53 feet is added to the Makkum shipyard’s portfolio.

AT HOME, ON THE WATER.

The Bestevaer 53 M/Y is the end product of uncompromising craftsmanship and quality. Understated in its presence, yet so abundant in its offerings. Each detail has been considered and perfected. Every choice has been a conscious choice to assure a carefree experience for its owners. The result is a yacht that is filled with intelligence in every aspect of its design and its features.

“The Bestevaer signifies pure finesse to me. A simple shape and a sharp bow. Beautiful lines. But still, a yacht that is extremely comfortable under all weather conditions. The Bestevaer is my definition of the perfect ship.”

Gerard Dijkstra
World-renowned sailor, naval architect and designer of the Bestevaer series

Under Construction

We introduced our new motor yacht to the public and the world media at Boot Düsseldorf 2019. In September 2020 she was launched during an event at the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam.

The scale model and the renderings gave a clear impression of what the yacht would look like. In September 2020 she made her first appearance on the water with a debut in Amsterdam and during the Open Day at the yard on September 26th. In October 2020 one of our sail yacht owners decided he wanted to buy her to start exploring new areas with his wife.

The second Bestevaer 53 Motoryacht is currently under construction for a Swiss couple. Delivery is set for the end of 2021.

Click on the ‘Show Yachts’ button on the left to find more photos of both yachts.

And as with any custom yacht we make, this one can also be adapted to the wishes of the owner. The yacht should fit its owner like a bespoke suit.

The Journey

“The go-anywhere yacht for go-anywhere people.”

The Bestevaer 53 M/Y gives you the freedom to go wherever you want, whenever you want. From the Arctics to the tropics – and any city, island or inlet you’ll discover in between.  All-year-round. Where will your journey take you? Here’s to expanding our worlds and exploring new territories.
In this article Eeuwe Kooi talks about what freedom means to him.

Interior

“Surrounded by water, you experience your purest thoughts and harmony. I captured this harmony in the interior design by conveying the air, peace and space you experience outside. By using tactile and honest materials that age beautifully. Materials that speak to all senses and become even more beautiful over time.”

Christien Starkenburg, Creative Director of Studio Slow and the interior designer of the Bestevaer 53 M/Y.

Bestevaer 49 Motor Yacht

After the introduction of the Bestevaer 53 M/Y last year, we wanted to offer a Bestevaer M/Y just under the 15 meter mark for those who are looking to travel the Rhine.  And for some it means they won’t need to obtain a special permit to drive the yacht in the Netherlands.

Our aim was to try and to have as much interior space as on the Bestevaer 53. Of course we had to ‘nip and tuck’ a bit, but overall the interior is almost equal to the 53, and even has a small extra cabin for storage or a crew/guest bed.

The principle is the same for the 53 and the 49 in regards to building process, quality, outfitting, etc

Bestevaer 63 Motor Yacht

Here’s to even greater adventures. Measuring 19.4 meters with a 5.8 meter beam, The Bestevaer 63 M/Y offers maximum comfort, three generous sleeping cabins, a flybridge and an outdoor seating area. This exquisite yacht is currently in development. If you want to be the first in the know, feel free to sign up for our newsletter and we will keep you posted.
