The hull design and sail plan are made by Dykstra Naval Architects. The interior design and installation, the owner did himself, being an architect. In 2008 de ‘Zeerover’ was christened. The typical design is noted in the sailing world, but also followed by others…

The new owners renamed the yacht Aegle and they made many trips to Northern areas such as the Lofoten and Nordkap in Norway, Finland and Sweden. In 2016 they sailed to Iceland and Greenland. Watch the beautiful video below.

Aegle has been continually maintained and successively upgraded by KMY to the highest possible standard. She presents as almost new and is probably the best ever example of the Bestevaer 53. The yacht is in absolutely turn key condition, completely ready to cross oceans and explore the globe with all systems proven and real time tested.

Owner’s quote:
Our normal average speed worked out as the mean overall speed each year is 7.5kts. Sailing is a bit faster than motoring at about 8.5kts  and motoring is a bit slower at 6.5kts.
Our best long passage was 2000 miles from Cornwall to Spitsbergen and that took 11 days.
