The Bestewind 50 (50 feet, 14,97 m) is a real eye-catcher with robust, classical lines, a straight bow, an overhanging transom and a pilothouse. She is designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and based on the Bestevaer II, Gerard Dykstra his own aluminium custom-built sailing yacht.
The transom has a collapsible swimming platform and a gate which offers an easy way through to the cockpit. As all halyards are led aft from the mast, the deck remains uncluttered and neatly arranged. The Bestewind 50 is easily sailed by a couple.
The interior layout and finish reflect the eye for detail and commitment to quality that are the architect’s and the builders’ hallmarks. The space below deck is bright and roomy, with a combination of mahogany and off-white and an appealing traditional look. The pilothouse is a distinctive feature and contains the nav station and a seating arrangement with an uninterrupted view of the surroundings.
